Props to Congressman Jim McGovern, who will attempt to eat on $3 a day from May 15-21 to bring attention to the small amount that those who receive food stamps are expected to live on.The Worcester Democrat will be joined by Missouri Republican Jo Ann Emerson in the "food stamp challenge," which is sponsored by religious groups and community activists. No one else in the House of Representatives has responded to the pair's challenge to join them.
My family used food stamps when I was kid, and I applaud any effort to shine a spotlight on the economic divide in this country.
