Local food spotlighted

Two East Boston eateries are mentioned in today's Boston Sunday Globe magazine section under the heading, "Best of the New: Food." The blurb notes that Off the Boat Seafood, at 26 Porter Street near Central Square, has "fresh fish at fair prices," adding "it's in the Italian dishes that the place really excels."

303 Cafe gets props right at the top, lauded for the "Euro-inspired caffeine fixes, breakfasts like crab cakes Benedict and Nutella French toast, and light lunches and dinners," as well as the "rotating art exhibits and spoken-word nights." I read a couple of poems at last week's spoken word event and I hope to do so in the future. The cafe is located at 303 Sumner Street, outside of Maverick Square.

303 Cafe` is by far the best thing to happen to this neighborhood in a very long time!! Great ambiance!! Food to die for! Great company!! There isn't much more an establishment can offer that the 303 isn't already offering! Great job Melinda & Tom!

Go to Restaurant.com for 303 Cafe deal during the week. Many locals just now are aware of OTB. I thought it was a fish market. Walked right by. I talked to dozens and they said it just opened. How many people know you can get a good a good meal in El Kiosco. I like Cactus in the square great portions.
My friends only noticed OTB when they left Sonny Notos. A place I have been in twice since it changed from Santoros. When is the Old Sablones going to open ? A great martini bar would be great.

Great to see these local restaurants in the news. I'd add Angela's to the list as well.

BTW~ Has anyone heard about what is happening with the italian restaurant on Sumner Street? It has been sold to 2 women from PTown but they are only renting out the converted apartment on top of the restaurant and renting out the restaurant itself. Rumor has it DParma might be moving in...any news out there? Would appreciate any info out there. Thx.

As a single person, new to the neighborhood, I haven't ventured out too much by myself yet (besides the occasional coffee run to 303) but looking forward to exploring more! I'm curious about the building at 1 Mav Square - I think the old sign says Harbor Point Bar? There are building permits in the windows - anybody know what's going in there?
