Obama is the better choice

Massachusetts is one of the Super Tuesday primary states, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. A total of 24 states will have a primary or caucus on Tuesday, with 51% of Democratic delegates and 41% of Republican being selected.

I am going to vote for Barack Obama. Not only do I believe that he has a higher chance than Hillary Clinton of being successful in the general election, which is of utmost importance to Democrats this year, but I believe that he would make the best president of anyone in the field.

Columnist Frank Rich, in today's New York Times, points to a few reasons why Obama is the right person for the job.

I am also a registered independent and I will be voting for Barack in the primary. I believe that he will do a good job for our country.

Personally, I don't trust Hillary. I feel her motivation in this election is simply to make history as the first female president. And like the rest of her "I/Me" campaign, it is a selfish and disingenuine motivation.

As a fellow independent I have to run this by someone: Was anyone else put off that when they hit the polls today they essentially had to declare their vote? As in "would you like a Democrat or Republican ballot?" I don't see why they don't have an indepent or unenrolled ballot listing all of the options.

This is the way that open primaries work. You are allowed to not be a member of a particular party but if you want to influence a particular party's nomination, then you have to state which party you want to vote in. To have a separate ballot for independents would actually require more resources than necessary. You can only vote for one person - hence, one party - anyway.

To 'anonymous', about an independent declaring his/her party at the polls:

I agree, to the extent that it was annoying to have to declare my party aloud, at the registration desk AND at the checkout desk. I know that's how 'it works', but it would be more discreet if there was a card you hand in, or something less-obvious than some woman loudly asking: "DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN ?!?!" To top it off, when I signed in, the person didn't know what to do, and therefore announced loudly: "Linda! Linda! I have an INDEPENDENT here! What am I supposed to do ????"

And while I'm on the topic:
I had a (so-called) 'privacy sleeve' to (supposedly) 'protect' my ballot. OK. So when I approached the 'box' to turn in my ballot, I was told that the box doesn't accept the privacy sleeve, so I'd have to remove the ballot. Well, my ballot was not upside-down. So I'm thinking: "Hmmm, do I turn around for a second to remove the ballot and flip it upside down before I put it into the machine/box? Or do I just remove it and feed it in right-side-up?" Of course, three men are standing at the machine chit-chatting and now completely watching me (well, my ballot) as I struggled with my ballot in one hand and a baby in the other hand.

So there was no discreetness in MY vote yesterday.

There is no way in Hell I will ever vote for Obama.

I am an Independant, and if hes the guy to get the nod I to will be voting republican, not only against him but against Kerry, and Kennedy.

NO LICENSES FOR ILLEGAL ,AS IN CRIMINALS ,AND NOT FREE STATE EDUCATION.

Enough is enough. Vote to get rid of the 20-30 million Illegals by voting Republican.

Fence jumpers are ruining this country ,as well as our health care industry more, and more each passing day.

So go against anyone who would give amnesty, sympaathy,or drivers licenses, and for Gods sake dont donate to them a single penny.

A Sick of being screwed Independant.

Its spelled "Independent" -look it up in your dictionary - you will find it after "Illegal" (as in alien) but before "Inferiority Complex"
