In the news

Boston.com reports this evening that the toxicology report on two Boston firefighters who were killed in an August restaurant fire revealed some surprises: one of the men had enough alcohol in his bloodstream to be legally intoxicated, while the other had traces of cocaine in his system.

While there is no reason to think that the condition the firefighters were in was responsible for their deaths, it is still a shocking finding and one that will need to be investigated and addressed. A state Superior Court judge has "barred Channel 7 from reporting on findings," according to the Boston Globe's web site. Such an exercise of prior restraint is virtually unheard of in the US, and Channel 7 is appealing today to the Supreme Judicial Court.

In another story with loose ends, a 17-year-old was arraigned yesterday for his involvement in the death of a Revere police officer over the weekend. It's still unclear what the cop and fellow officers were doing behind the city's high school and how a shootout broke out between them and the defendant and some of his friends.

What were these officers doing behind the high school?

Everyone should ask themselves, this question, "Why is it that Firefighters are always running into a burning building, when everyone else is running out?" My dad is a Firefighter, and myself, along with my brothers look up to him with the ut-most respect. When these two BRAVE and UNSELFISH men died, we as a city, nation, country, and world mourned for them and their families. We gave them the best send off, that all "Jakes" deserve.

These alligations, IF true, should never have been published. These men and their families have suffered enough and now THIS. If this is true, it should have been something that was kept private and only for the files.

It might be weird to say, but if these men were still alive, and these alligations came about, then I would have no problem with the Herald publishing this story. However, with the circumstances that surround this, I think it would have been wise for the Herald and news stations to let this one stay under the rug. Let these men rest in peace. Let their children think nothing but the best of their dads.

R.I.P. Jake's.....

When I am called to duty, God
Whenever flames may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be its age,
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and
Protect his property
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your
protecting hand
My children and my wife.

I sympathize with the families of the firefighters here, but this is about public safety employees in the line of duty and, therefore, is something that needs to be talked about, studied and addressed.

The facts here don't tarnish my view of firefighters as noble public servants. It's a difficult and dangerous job. Won't it be a good thing if some firefighters' lives are saved in the future as a result?

Jimbo, I agree with you. I wonder how Joe feels.

Also, while the death of the Revere officer is tragic, we need to know exactly what transpired that night.

Says to Mr.Anon,and Jimbo

Its a fine line of the Publics Right to know,or Need to know.

I have a huge problem with this insatiable appetite of the Media. Always looking to be "First",or have the "Exclusive".

As a person fighting a huge Health Battle ,I can assure you all that ,"Tests are not always 100% correct".

My first Biopsy came back negative, but I continued to get sicker,so I had a second, and that came back Positive.

So to be sure before proceeding with invasive treatment I had a third done out of state, and it came back Positive.

If I had relied on a single test ,I would not be here typing on Jimbos blog.

So I say they should of waited to be 1000000000000% sure the results were correct.

Case in point, when a fire is burning ,its source the items in the house give off Toxic fumes, and most Die from that than the actual flames.

I say shame on the Press for not letting the wounds heal, and wait for the entire investigation to be complete.Including having an independant lab test them.

Lets not forget that our Medical Examiners office has been dubed the worst in the country. They loose bodies, bury the wrong people in the wrong graves, and have had to be taken over by the State Police.

God Rest thier Souls, and have Mercy on the family, esp. the Kids.

Channel 7 ,and the Globe can kiss my a--.

I agree with Megan and Joe Mason. This should have never been leaked out. The families should not have to suffer more than they already are. The media are a bunch of no good (you fill in the blanks) God Bless the two jakes and their families.

Says to everyone !

Now reports from other Medical Examiners(much more qualified, and respected)
,as well as case study says that in a Fire both before ,and after you die the heat of the fire,as well as how long you are in the fire causes the body to raise Blood Alcohol levels due to cells being heated, and burned.

Along with what I said before about the types of things burning in a fire also cause chemical changes inside your body.

So again I say the idiot media, and the scum that probably stole the results to sell to the media should rot in hell.

On top of all that ,all you have to do is search the internet to see the Horror stories of the same Medical Examiners office that did these tests, and you will have your doubts.

Its been in complete chaos, and in shambles for over 2 years.I wouldn't trust them telling me the time of day.

What a shame that in this day,and age ,the only thing that matters is having that exclusive ,before getting all the facts.

I hope they find who leaked the PRIVATE medical records, and put them in jail.
Enough!

Wow, still nothing yet on the Revere incident. What a shame. I hope the FBI gets to the bottom of this because now even firmly grounded folks are starting to say "cover up."

Can you blame them Jimbo?
