Seven months ago I wrote that the Charles Ernest Andrews Footbridge, which crosses over the MBTA Blue Line tracks to connect Wordsworth Street, needed to come down. The city finally took care of that a couple weeks ago, only about 40 years after the bridge became an eyesore and a public safety hazard.
Neighbor Tom Tassinari tells the Globe that he is a bit miffed that after such a long wait the span and the sign honoring the veteran it was named after were removed on Veterans Day. The city promised to replace the sign.
