And Yoon makes three

Sam Yoon, an at-large city councilor who lives in Dorchester, has joined the race for mayor of Boston, according to Boston.com. Another at-large councilor, Michael Flaherty, has already thrown his hat into the ring against powerful Mayor Thomas Menino, who has held the office since the summer of 1993.

Yoon would appear to be the most liberal of the three Democrats, while Flaherty should have strong backing from unions and Menino has a vast political machine at his disposal. Does Yoon's candidacy weaken Flaherty's chance to unseat Boston's longest-serving mayor?

This will be a great race. After sixteen years, it will be nice to discuss a change for Boston. The city would do well with Sam Yoon in command.

Boston's future? what has Yoon done to make you think that?

I hope Yoon does a better job with his campaign than Flaherty. I haven't thought much about the way he handled his announcement, and now the issue with his wife and the police department qualification exam. Boston doesn't need that kind of bumbler running it.

I feel that Sam Yoon's candidacy will help Mike Flaherty in the end. It causes a primary to occur giving both challengers a longer race.In Sept I believe the two that will emerge will be Menino and Flaherty. Then its up to us to decide. There is no reason not to vote this year, and voter apathy will not rid us of the financial problems we face.

When has anyone seen Sam Yoon actually in Boston? he doesnt show up for council hearings, he doesn't know the neighborhood issues in his own backyard and he does not have the backbone to run this city. Maybe he should re-evaluate his track record and start doing his job before trying to get ahead and try to fill the shoes he clearly cannot.
