In the past 15 years, cheerleading injuries have doubled. When I was a sports reporter, I saw high school cheerleaders performing amazing, and dangerous, tosses. I've also witnessed fliers -- the girls who are tossed in the air -- not get caught.There's a story in today's New York Times about the growing perils of cheering.
